‘Big Opportunities for Small Businesses - Gartner Local Briefing on the Future Market Landscape for SMBs’
16th July 2010, Hyderabad: ITsAP SME forum in partnership with Gartner organized a local briefing for Small and Medium Businesses on ‘Big Opportunities for Small Businesses - Gartner Local Briefing on the Future Market Landscape for SMBs’.
The sessions from Gartner were incisive and provided the much needed insight to the 100 odd CXO’s, CEO and Senior Management professionals from SMBs to grow their businesses.
Arup Roy, Senior Research Analyst, Gartner, spoke on Cracking the Indian SMB Market – Trends and Provider Strategies, which dealt, the key buying behavior of SMBs, Key trends and major drivers or inhibitors to penetrating the SMB market and what strategies should technology and service providers consider when addressing the SMB market.
Bhavish Sood, Principal Research Analyst, Gartner, spoke on Business Confidence in 2010-2011- Transitioning to Growth. He was of the opinion that, for an industry which is coming out of recession, it was important to know the various market forces impacting the IT marketplace. He said, “As the economy improves, new opportunities will emerge and SMB vendors must be prepared to accelerate market share gains”.
The other important talk was by Aditya Bikram Chatterjee, Area Manager, Gartner, on
Gartner engagement model with SME’s which was followed by Panel Discussion & Open House Session. The panelist included Bhavish Sood and Arup Roy.
Earlier welcoming everybody to the session, L. Suresh, President, ITsAP said, “It has been an important focus area for ITsAP, to help build a friendly eco-system for SMBs in the state of AP to grow to their full potential. In this regard we are working very closely with the Government of Andhra Pradesh and STPI, Hyderabad. The most important initiatives that we are currently working with the Govt include Reserving space for SMBs in SEZs, Creating incubation facilities for SMBs with the help STPI and Allocating 10% of Govt projects to SMBs. ITsAP has also played an important role in the deliberations of various sub-committees to finalize the IT&C Policy for 2010-2015”.
ITsAP SME Forum coordinator, Ravi Rao, MD, Valuemomentum, Speaking on the occasion said, “The ITsAP SME forum was successful in bringing the issues concerning SMBs for discussion, crystallize a common opinion on actions needed to be taken by ITsAP towards resolution and act on them. Sessions like todays help SMBs to get a feel of overall market scenario, so very important for survival, especially for SMBs”.
